Corky Miller did on Wednesday what Corky Miller knows he's always been capable of doing.  It's why he never walked away from the game despite all of the back-n-forth trips between the minor leagues and the big club.  Miller went 2-2 with 2 RBI in the Reds' 6-5 win over Oakland to complete a two game sweep of the A's at Great American Ball Park.  It was his first multi-hit game in the majors since 2002.  Miller even "legged" out a double before having to leave the game after injuring his knee during a collision at home plate.  "If he had tried to run me over it would've been better for both of us, Miller said of the knee-to-knee contact he absorbed.  There ain't nothing you can do about it.  But he's out," Miller said proudly.

That's really what its all about for Miller.  Just do the job the right way, every day.  He was happy with his two-hit performance but, "if I had gone 0-4 and Homer (Bailey) went into the 7th that would've been just the same," he said of managing Tuesday's starting pitcher.

At 37-years-old Miller is on his second stint with the Reds, with stops in Minnesota, Boston, Atlanta and most recently Chicago with the White Sox.  There are too many minor league stops to list as the reading for you would become tedious.  His family remains in the Windy City but happened to be here in the Queen City for Tuesday's game.  "Having them here today, on family day, it was fun," Miller said.  "It was fun looking up there and seeing them."

It was fun to see a fan and clubhouse favorite have a big day when the Reds need as many of those as possible coming down the stretch.  "Guys love playing with him," said Bailey.  "To see him come up big and drive in those runs, guys are just happy for him."

Happy, but no one was surprised, especially the guy who authored the big day.  "I always have confidence whether it happens for me or not.  And I'm always prepared behind the plate," said Miller.

And he always knew he was capable.
