Brad's Blog - 08/22/13

Reds wrap up their 4-game set with the D-Backs this afternoon but I'm doing Bengals game prep this morning. So some quick thoughts on position battles to watch Saturday in Dallas (a game I will call alongside Anthony Munoz LIVE on Local 12)

Offense:

OL: Not many of you will pay attention to the final offensive line spots, but I think Dennis Roland may end up odd man out soon. Tanner Hawkinson isn't going to get cut. Mike Pollak can play center and guard. Otis Hudson or T.J Johnson? Is Reid Fragel a practice squad guy?

RB: I know Marvin moved Rex Burkhead up to #3 before the Titans game. Then Boom Herron goes for 81yards and a 40-yard TD. Which one do you want?

WR: Ryan Whalen, Dane Sanzenbacher, Cobi Hamilton? Pick 2.

QB: Can you come up with compelling reason to keep John Skelton over Josh Johnson?

Defense:

DL: You have to keep Margus Hunt, but can he contribute quickly enough to be active on game day? Would like to see more "finish" from him in preseason.

LB: I think Sean Porter ends up on IR with the shoulder. JK Shaffer or Jayson DiManche? That's a battle.

SS: If George Iloka isn't back until the opener because he punched a helmet, does Shawn Williams beat out Taylor Mays to start? I wonder.

CB: Can Brandon Ghee stay on the field long enough to realize his potential? Does Chris Lewis-Harris deserve a roster spot?

Feel free to let me know what you think. Head over to my Facebook page (Brad Johansen Local 12 News) or hit me up on Twitter @bradjohansen.
