LOVELAND, Ohio (WKRC) -- Students in Loveland experience poverty and hunger first-hand. They wrapped up an all-night event in order to bring more awareness to homelessness. Perry Schaible was with them at Loveland High School.

The students arrived at about 5 p.m. Thursday night, with only boxes, duct tape, flashlights and a can of soup. They spent the night outside, to draw attention to poverty, hunger and homelessness.

The student-initiated sleepout was a first at Loveland High School. About 40 students participated. This morning, the went to school straight from their temporary homes.

Student Rachel Jones led the movement. She says they heard a presentation by the Homeless Coalition. She says the students heard first-hand from a person who experienced homelessness. She said the event really put things in perspective.
