Health Alert: A Change of Pace

CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) -- A simple change of pace could help you get in better shape this summer!
  
If you have plans to drop pounds this summer, you may want to pay attention to not just what you are eating but how quickly you are eating it according to this new report.  Local 12 stopped at Bethesda North Hospital with friends from TriHealth to tell you more about this research.

It is published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  Scientists asked two groups of 35 people to eat any dish, didn't matter what.  They compared those who were overweight to those who were normal weight and compared eating times.  They had one group that ate a  meal in nine minutes and another that took 22 minutes.

The research found those that slowed down were able to drop up to what would translate to a loss of seven or eight pounds per year by the number of calories they ate less of each day.  If you are a fast eater, it might help to slow down.  Pace yourself, they call this mindful eating.
