Health Alert: Early sunshine linked to lower BMI

CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) -- It was recommended to soak up a little sunshine on warm days, especially if done early in the day.

Online medical journal, PLOS ONE, released a study that said sunshine appears to be slimming in the morning.  Researchers found that those who got most of their exposure to daylight in the morning each day had a lower body mass index, or weight for height, than those who got sunshine later in the day.

This appeared to be true even when researchers considered other factors such as activity levels, age, eating habits and even sleep patterns.  Apparently it's because in spite of all other factors, the light appears to synchronize your internal clock which is linked to your metabolism.

Just 20 to 30 minutes of morning sunshine each day may be enough to give your body this benefit.
