Health Alert: Exercise instead of medication

CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) -- A new report found fitness that was fun could hold the secret to reducing medication for health problems and may be more powerful than any pill.

The World Health Organization ranked physical inactivity as the fifth leading cause of disease.  But they also said it was what they called a, 'modifiable risk factor.'  Which meant a person could do something about it.

Smoking was another one, people can stop smoking with any form of fitness, even a fund sport.  Local 12 stopped out at the Little Miami Golf Center to learn more about a sport where people can walk, move and get their heart rate up.  The report found that when it came to certain health problems such as heart disease or cancer, people can do all kinds of things to intervene with those. 

But exercise in many cases was as good as if they took a medication!
