Health Alert: Get the kids outside!

Updated: Tuesday, November 18 2014, 09:06 AM EST
CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) -- The Center for Disease Control has released a new report that said adults need to get kids moving and outside!

There are just a couple more weeks of summer and this new report said 75 percent of kids don't get outside and get in summer activities.  Local 12 stopped out at the Potters Ranch in Union to learn more about the study.

It found kids were not getting out and getting active with things like fishing and animals.  The Center for Disease Control found three quarters of children spend at least two hours a day in front of a screen.  The study surveyed 12 to 15-year-olds; more than 1,200 of them.  From those surveyed the study said nearly half spent four hours in front of a T.V. and 12 percent of them in front of a computer.

Experts were concerned that the behavior found could contribute to childhood obesity and also that kids miss out on fun, healthy activities.  So while there are still a few more weeks, outside time is really important.
