Health Alert: Kids Follow Mom's Habits

Updated: Wednesday, October 23 2013, 09:54 PM EDT
NORTHGATE, Ohio (Liz Bonis) -- Another study says mom may play the biggest role in a child's health habits.

Medical reporter Liz Bonis has details of a new report in Wednesday's Health Alert.

This report found regardless of age or income, you can get your kids to eat a little better and exercise a little more.  It comes from The Change Study, researchers looked at 432 first to sixth graders, and found when moms added fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and other good foods to the diet, as well as regular activity, kids would follow.

They said this is important to note because we often think of age, or income or even climate as barriers to these healthy activities.  But in this study they found simply if mom stepped it up, kids would follow.
