Health Alert: Skipping workouts

Updated: Wednesday, January 15 2014, 10:20 AM EST
BLUE ASH, Ohio (Liz Bonis) -- So the new year is just beginning and you are skipping workouts, well don't worry about it. This new report found you really can make up for it -- in the days that follow. We stopped at Fleet Feet sports in Blue Ash today to tell you more about this research.

A team of experts in Ontario, Canada studied those who worked out and found the magic number is 150 minutes a week to maintain cardiovascular health. Now you can run or walk, doesn't matter what you choose to do but that amount of time is enough to reduce the odds of heart disease, diabetes and stroke.

Now if you are trying to improve fitness or lose weight, you still may need more time or consistency to get your metabolic rate up on a regular basis. But just 150 minutes a week, no matter whether you do it in two days or seven, was enough in this study to help the heart.Health Alert: Skipping workouts
