Health Alert: Teen Driving

Updated: Monday, March 17 2014, 04:41 PM EDT
CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) -- Yet another warning about texting and driving Monday, this one is for teen drivers.

You probably know as an adult  that dialing on your cell phone while you are driving is dangerous, it doubles the risk of an accident as an adult.

Now this new report in the New England Journal of Medicine found that if you are a teen with a new license, it ups the odds eightfold.  We stopped out at the Abramson Eye Institute at Children's Hospital to tell you more about this research.

Researchers used cameras to look at the activities that cause drivers to take their eyes off the road.  If teens do this it's very dangerous.  It is suggested parents remind them not to text, dial or even talk on the phone and to pull over if they need to have a conversation.
