Home for pregnant homeless women in need of donations
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Healthy Moms and Babes is an organization that will do whatever it takes to help women have healthy babies.
Recently they found there was one need they couldn't meet, helping pregnant women who were homeless. But with a little of the community’s help, that's about to change.
For the past three decades, Healthy Moms and Babes has reached out to moms who were having babies that had nowhere else to go for help. A house, called The Segale House, helps expand that mission.
Sister Tricia Cruise with Healthy Moms and Babes said, “We're just doing the interview process for moms.”
Moms who are pregnant and homeless can now move into the house. One of the reasons why the building and apartment came to be was that a home visitor said one of the issues the moms have is they don't have a stable environment to live in. Healthy Moms and Babes will provide one of the four apartments to the moms while they work with them to get back on their feet. The apartments are fully furnished with donated household and baby items.
Because the women who live there will eventually move out on their own, they will need the items already donated and that is where the community comes in. A generous friend said they will match dollar for dollar up to $15,000. So if people give money now it gets doubled and people still get a year-end tax credit.
Healthy Moms and Babes also needs more donations of household and baby items, a truck to transport them, and pack and plays.
Healthy Moms and Babes especially need household and baby items such as:
- Sturdy dining room table and chairs
- A 4x4 pick-up truck
People can call 513-591-5600 or CLICK HERE to find out more about them. They will give you a receipt for items and dollars donated if you need that before the end of the year.
