Hoxworth in critical need for Type O Negative blood in Tri-State
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - You could do something good for others and win and iPhone!
You could win by giving blood, and Hoxworth has a big need for donors right now. They are at about 60 percent capacity for the blood needed for all 31 of the hospitals they supply.
Hoxworth put out a critical plea on Wednesday for all donors but especially those that have O-negative blood.
The past few days the team at Hoxworth say that they have had heavy usage. This can come from additional surgery needs, unexpected accidents or transplant procedures, and in this case it was also due to some special blood needs for those with certain types of anemia, which is low iron in the blood.
As everyone moves into the holiday weekend, they are already fewer drives and regular donors are often out of town, so if you can make an appointment any-time in the next week or so, you are asked to call them at 513-451-0910.
Now as for that iPhone, it's an iPhone 10, that will be given away to an O-negative donor, if you stop by any neighborhood blood center to donate before November 30th.
Many are open until 6 p.m. Wednesday night, and do have holiday weekend hours.
