BETHESDA, Md. (WKRC) - There is new research when it comes to eating and your ears.

Milk, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, beans, seafood, olive oil and alcohol in moderation could help if your hearing is on the decline.

According to researchers, these foods don't just help your blood pressure and your heart -- they can help your hearing as well.

Researchers with the National Institutes of Health recently found this may help many people, especially women, fight hearing loss.

This plant-based diet has been known to reduce inflammation in the body according to research based the DASH diet, or dietary approaches to stop hypertension.

In this study, which followed more than 2,000 women for more than a decade, women who ate this way were 30 percent less likely to have hearing loss than those who did not.

Researchers also found that not smoking along with this plant-based diet made a difference in reducing hearing loss too.
