Pilot study underway to evaluate effectiveness of "Mobile Stroke Units"
CINCINNATI (WKRC) – When every minute counts, new “Mobile Stroke Units” are making an effort to bring care to you. They are now part of a national trial across the country.
The Cincinnati chapter of the American Heart Association said that the new mobile units can be dispatched to provide high-tech interventions that save lives.
Inside the mobile units they have medications used in early stroke treatment, special imaging tests that can be completed on the way to the hospital and are also almost like having an emergency room on the road if needed.
Every four minutes, someone in the US dies from a stroke, getting the right kind of help to person right away could make a critical difference in survival and preventing long term disability.
