Report: It takes very little exercise to improve health
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - If people still need to get started on their New Year's resolution to get in shape there's good news.
A new report said it takes very little exercise to improve health.
People have likely heard that even as a "weekend warrior" where people exercise just a few days a week, it's better than nothing at all. But what that really meant was that getting off the couch at all, even a few hours a week, may make a huge difference in how long and how well people live.
Researchers in the Journal of the American Medical Association found exercising just two days a week, for an hour and 15 minutes, was enough to cut the risk of dying from heart disease by 40 percent, from other causes by 30 percent and from cancer by almost 20 percent.

The study didn't necessarily show why but it may be less waist weight because it tends to go with more activity.
