St. Elizabeth Style Show raises money for new comprehensive cancer center
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The St. Elizabeth Style Show on Monday in Hebron is really a celebration of life.
Local 12’s Liz Bonis had a chance to help emcee it and it supports the foundation which assists in projects for patient care.
“I love this event, it's women coming together it's people coming together,” said Linda Mears, a patient with cancer.
The Style Show is an annual event and on Monday it highlighted fashion, by survivors for those currently in care and treatment:
“I am surviving,” said Linda.
The hope is to let those who are in this journey know that they are not alone and that they are with care providers who are compassionate and caring, and it makes the journey a little easier.
They are also building for others who need that care. The money raised at the event will be part of the kick-off campaign for the new St. Elizabeth Cancer Center that is now in the works.
Dr. Doug Flora, who is the medical director of the new cancer center, says there is one goal:
“I think our patients are going to get world class cancer care close to home we are going to get fundamental patient centric care where each person is valued as a human being rather than just a number, and we are going to be brining cutting edge cancer care northern Kentucky,” said Dr. Doug Flora.
Most of the models in the show are providers or supporters of Saint Elizabeth Healthcare.
The Cancer Center campaign is expected to last for the next few years until the center is open and running.
A lot of the providers that were part of the show are currently caring for patients right now.
