Superbug infection resistant to all FDA-approved antibiotics
WASHINGTON (WKRC) - A strain of drug resistant superbugs may be spreading more widely than previously thought.
That's the result of a chilling new study of "CRE." The CDC said it caused an estimated 9,300 infections and 600 deaths per year. It generally spreads from patient to patient in hospitals and long term care facilities.
There are usually no signs of any symptoms. The bug killed a Nevada woman over the summer of 2016.
In her case, the bug was resistant to all 26 antibiotics available in the U.S.
