The Art of Healing: Local artist gives back to team that helped her recover from back pain
ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) - A local artist is giving back to a team she says has given her back an important part of her life. She could have had a life of back pain; instead, she says she got her life back.
Now, this artist from Anderson Township invites others to help support "The Art and Science of Healing" event.
When you see a picture or portrait in Gail Morrison's art studio, she says she sees a miracle. After fracturing her back twice, a team from Mayfield Brain and Spine fixed those fractures.
"And I have not had pain in my back since," Morrison said.
And if there were ever a way to say thank you, she has done that a thousand ways, a thousand times, with all kinds of beauty. Not only does she paint to sell, she paints to share now.
Her work, along with other artists, will be featured at the 2018 "The Art and Science of Healing" event for the Mayfield Education and Research Foundation. The foundation gives research grants to many local scientists to help fund cures for brain and spine diseases.
"Our foundation funds grants in the neuroscience, as well as other educational initiatives throughout Cincinnati," said Deborah Livingston.
For Morrison, every flower that takes shape and every piece of scenery that comes to life represents a dream that, because she's been healed, she doesn't have to brush aside.
"It's my life back; I mean I switched careers 25 years ago. I have been painting; it's a passion and I have my life back," Morrison said.
The Art of Science and Healing is Saturday, April 14 at 6 p.m. at the Transept at 12th and Elm streets. Click here for more information.
