UC Health offers free breast cancer education event
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - There are dozens of new therapies and treatments in the works right now for those living with breast cancer or trying to prevent the disease.
A team at UC Health says that the reason for that is, just like snowflakes, no two cancers are alike.
So researchers, providers, patients and those who do genetic testing are hosting a free educational event this weekend.
It's designed to focus on individual disease and personalized care.
Dr. Ryan Gobble is a reconstruction surgeon who also is the principal investigator on some new breast implant studies.
He says it's important for women and families to be able to know they have choices and not feel that they are alone.
“You know, I always tell patients, when they come in to see me, we go over the reconstructive process, we talk about the risks and benefits, and I say ‘this is a team,’” said Dr. Gobble.
The breast cancer event is on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kingsgate Marriott. Lunch is included, it is free, and you can register by calling (513) 558- 2030 or you can register by following this link.
