Winning ticket drawn for Teal Power T-Bird
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The winner of the raffle for the Teal Power T-Bird was drawn recently at the Teal Power 5k Run & Walk. The raffle and the run/walk raised money to find a cure for ovarian cancer.
More than 2,500 people signed up to walk at Summit Park to help fight ovarian cancer. Many were here to show support for those they love .
The Teal Power Walk raises awareness and money for research for this disease. Among them is Debbie Walter, a volunteer with the Ovarian Cancer Alliance.
For nearly five years, Local 12 has followed Debbie's tireless journey to let others know the silent symptoms of this disease and to raise funds for clinical trials.
The Teal Power T-bird was the dream car of Debbie's husband. They raised money to remodel it. Saturday, Liz Bonis drew the winning ticket.
The winner chose the cash option of $10,000, so Andy and the Ovarian Cancer Alliance Team can auction the car off at another auction and raise double the money for a cure to fight this disease.
This day meant the world to Debbie, who got a special tribute at the walk from the Delta Kings.
Debbie's body is a little weaker these days from this fight but her spirit is perhaps never stronger. More than $20,000 was raised from the car raffle for ovarian cancer.
More than a million has been raised by Debbie and the teams and events she has coordinated since she's had this disease.
