Mother credits recovery from heroin addiction to officer who adopted her baby
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (WKRC) - A woman is crediting the police officer who adopted her baby with helping her recover from a heroin and crystal meth addiction.
Crystal Champ was eight months pregnant when she refused help to recover from addiction. But she's since gone through rehab and is now six months sober.
She says Officer Ryan Holets helped her get her life back on track. He found her shooting up heroin with her partner. Holets and his wife later adopted Crystal's baby.
Crystal later agreed to go to rehab and is now rebuilding her life.
