Childhood Poverty Workshop held for local teachers
HAMILTON COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - A special workshop is being held for teachers in Hamilton County focusing on the needs of local children who are facing the struggle of poverty.
We've been talking a lot about childhood poverty for the past year at Local 12, hopefully bringing an important issue to the forefront and opening up a dialog, a real conversation, about why this is such a problem in Cincinnati which ranks among the top cities in terms of childhood poverty.
On Monday, the city as a whole will take one more step towards finding a solution.
The Hamilton County Educational Service Center is hosting a workshop for educators, bringing a concentrated focus on helping teachers, educators and school administrators to understand the critical needs of students living in poverty.
And in Cincinnati, that's an important tool for a teacher to have.
The forum is designed to be a highly engaged learning experience for those who attend.
The event runs from 8:30 a.m. Monday morning until 3 p.m. Monday afternoon at the Houston Early Learning Center on Compton Road.
If you are a teacher who would like to attend Monday's workshop you can find registration information on our website here.
