Two cosmonauts and a NASA astronaut are back on earth now. They left the International Space Station and landed in Kazakhstan yesterday. They spent 166 days on their space mission. That's almost six months.
What's the record for consecutive days in space?
1. 236 days
2. 337 days
3. 438 days
The answer is: 3. 438 days
The website for NASA says the space station Mir set every record for space flight duration. It says physician Valeri Polyakov lived aboard Mir for a single, continuous-orbit stay of 437 days, 17 hours and 38 minutes. That was January 1994 to March 1995. The website space.com says there's a plan for a year long mission in 2015. Two astronauts, one American and one Russian, would stay aboard the International Space Station for twice as long as current stays aboard the space station.
