1825- The first hotel opens in Hawaii.

1912- The Titanic sets sail from Southampton, England.

1925- F. Scott Fitzgerald publishes "The Great Gatsby" for the first time.

1950- Ken Griffey Sr. is born.

1953- Warner Brothers releases "House of Wax," the first 3-D movie to be released by a major Hollywood studio.

1967- The song "Somethin' Stupid" becomes the first father-daughter song to hit number one on the Billboard pop chart.  It is performed by Nancy and Frank Sinatra.

1997- Rod Steiger receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
