1788- Georgia becomes the 4th state to ratify the US Constitution.

1892- Ellis Island opens as America's first federal Immigration Center.

1910- The first Jr. High School in United States opens in California.  It housed 7th and 8th grade students.

1941- The Andrews Sisters record, "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy."

1960- US Senator John F. Kennedy of Massachusetts announces his candidacy for the Democratic Presidential nomination.
