1832-  The first streetcar went into operation in New York City, NY. The vehicle was horse-drawn and had room for 30 people.

1851- "Moby Dick" by Herman Melville is first published in the US.

1961- Elvis Presley's movie, "Blue Hawaii" premiers.

1970- Santana's "Black Magic Woman" is released.

1972- Blue Ribbon Sports becomes Nike.

1987- Sonny and Cher sing "I Got You Babe" on the David Letterman Show.

1990- The Rolling Stones release "Stripped," their acoustic album.

1995- The US Government institutes a partial shut down.

2000- November 14 is named National American Teddy Bear Day
