1630- Boston, Massachusetts is founded.

1872- Phillip W. Pratt receives a patent for an early version of the modern day sprinkler system.

1920- The American Professional Football Association is formed in Canton, OH. 

1937- Abraham Lincoln's face is dedicated at Mount Rushmore.

1939- Frank Sinatra records, "All or Nothing at All" with the Harry James Orchestra.

1963- "The Fugitive" premiers on ABC starring David Janssen.

1964- "Bewitched" premiers on ABC.

1967- The Doors appear on the "Ed Sullivan Show."

1972- "M*A*S*H" premiered on CBS.

1983- Miss New York, Vanessa Williams, becomes the first black woman to be crowned Miss America.
