1918- Britain women over the age of 30 voted in a general election for the first time.

1962- Bob Dylan's first single, "Mixed-Up Confusion," is released.

1986- Elton John records a live version of "Candle in the Wind."


SUNDAY:

1815- Jane Austen's "Emma" is published.

1939- "Gone With the Wind" based on the novel by Margaret Mitchell premiers at Loew's Grand Theater in Atlanta.  The movie stars Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable.
