SATURDAY

1620- The Mayflower and pilgrims from England land on Plymouth Rock, MA.

1913- The "New York World" Sunday edition includes a crossword puzzle as an added feature in the "Fun" section.  It is the first crossword to be published.

1937- "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" premiers.  It is Walt Disney's first full-length animated feature film.

1951- Joe DiMaggio announces his retirement from major league baseball.


SUNDAY

1956- Colo, the first gorilla to be born in captivity, was born at the zoo in Columbus, Ohio.

1978- Kenny Jones becomes the drummer for the Who.  He replaces Keith Moon who passed away a few months prior.
