Council Member Waives Right to Recount, Saves Taxpayers Thousands

Updated: Tuesday, November 26 2013, 10:02 PM EST
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Cincinnati City Council Member Quinlivan waives her right to a mandatory recount.

Quinlivan lost her re-election bid, she came in tenth. Based on the percentage difference of votes between ninth and tenth place, an automatic recount kicks in unless the losing candidate waives that right.

Quinlivan says she decided to forgo the recount because it would cost taxpayers 60,000 dollars and wouldn't change the outcome of the election.
