Updated: Monday, December 9 2013, 01:18 PM EST
BROWN COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - The Brown County Sheriff's Office says they are now investigating a murder-suicide after a woman who was reported missing and her estranged husband were found dead.

The bodies of 42 year-old Genevieve Smith and 55 year-old Andrew Smith were found in a parked car in the driveway of a home in the Ripley area Friday night. Both had suffered gunshot wounds and a gun was found inside the car. Investigators are still trying to determine for certain who fired the fatal shots.

According to family members, Genevieve Smith and Andrew Smith were separated. Genevieve had obtained a protection order against Andrew.

Genevieve was reported missing on Thursday. Family members became very concerned when she didn't show up for work. Then several hours after Genevieve had last been seen someone called 911 after seeing an altercation on Main Street in Higginsport involving Genevieve and her estranged husband. The caller said a gun may  have been involved.

Cameron Gully, who is the boyfriend of Genevieve's oldest child, said the family has been worried something awful was going to happen. Gully said Andrew was recently arrested for stalking Genevieve.

"He knew he was going to jail and he decided to . . he just lost it," Gully said.

Both Genevieve and Andrew were taken to Mongomery County where autopsies will be done.
