Parents of Wandering Toddler Face Charges

Updated: Friday, November 22 2013, 11:23 PM EST
HAMILTON, Ohio (WKRC) -- The parents of a toddler found wandering alone in Hamilton have turned themselves in. Nicholas and Elizabeth Latta face five counts of child endangering.

On Tuesday, the Lattas' 23-month-old daughter was found wandering in an alley on Dayton Street, wearing wet pajamas and no shoes. A neighbor found the little girl, who was shivering. She was taken to Children's Hospital.

When police responded to the couple's home they found the Lattas sleeping. They found four other children living in deplorable conditions. Officers say the home had no electricity or running water and an inadequate amount of food. Since there was no running water, the toilet and  a five gallon bucket were full of feces. There was animal feces on the floor.

The children are now with Butler County Children's Services.
