Suspects in Teen Beating Charged

Updated: Tuesday, December 3 2013, 11:10 AM EST
FRANKLIN, Ohio (Larry Davis) -- A Franklin teenager is dead Monday after being dumped unconscious at Atrium Hospital in Middletown.

With Dione Payne's death investigators now have a murder case on their hands.

Monday night, Michael Geldrich and Michael Watson are in jail charged with aggravated murder and aggravated robbery.

Police say the two suspects drove the victim to Atrium Medical Center Sunday morning.  One suspect went into the hospital, grabbed a wheelchair, came back out to put the boy in the wheelchair, and then wheeled him inside the hospital.

He told two nurses that they found him but they wouldnt say where.  The two suspects then took off in a pick-up truck.  The victim was then transported to a Dayton hospital where he later died.

Police say the Dayton teen drove to Franklin to deal drugs; a move that ended up costing him his life.

The 16-year-old victim was allegedly beaten inside a home in Franklin that belonged to 36-year-old Michael Geldrich.  Geldrich and 39-year-old Michael Watson are charged with aggravated murder and aggravated robbery.

Detectives say the two men robbed and beat Dione Payne for his money and his drugs.  The two men dropped Payne, who was unconscious, at the Atrium Medical Center, and left.

Middletown Police traced the vehicle the two men were driving to Franklin.  An officer there was familiar with the pick-up truck.  The truck then led police to the suspects.

The suspects are in the Warren County Jail Monday night and will face a judge for the first time Tuesday.
