Young Girl Awaiting Brain Surgery Collecting Toys for Kids at Children's Hospital

Updated: Tuesday, November 19 2013, 05:19 PM EST
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A young Virginia girl's battle with a brain condition is forcing her to spend Christmas at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

But she's not letting that stop her from spreading holiday cheer.

14-year-old Savannah Day is coming to Cincinnati to have brain surgery.  When she found out about the surgery she decided to hold a toy drive so that she can give toys to all the kids who will spend Christmas in the hospital with her.

Savannah's mom, Michelle Day, said, "It's going to be, I think, amazing.  I think it's going to be very rewarding.  I think Savannah's going to go into surgery with such a high note."

Savannah said, "I just think about the toy drive and all that helps me get through it."

So far, Savannah has collected more than 1,500 toys to give to kids at the hospital. Young Girl Awaiting Brain Surgery Collecting Toys for Kids at Children's Hospital
