Boone County school buses caught in sudden bad weather

Sudden bad weather forced the school district to delay school when buses were already picking up students (WKRC)

BOONE COUNTY, Ky. (WKRC) - The weather moved at the time some students in Boone County were on the road Thursday morning.

The school district was faced with keeping those on buses safe they made the call to delay school.

Eric McArtor with Boone County schools said the district's bus routes begin at around 6:00 to 6:15 a.m. "On my way in everything was clear, everything was dry. Then within a minute or 2 everything was white on the roads. It was a very treacherous situation."

McArtor said they radioed the bus drivers and told them if they felt unsafe to pull over and wait. If they were close to a school they were told they could drop off the students.

The district then called for a two-hour delay. Many parents took to the district's Facebook page to complain while some realized this was an unusual situation.
