Chicago trip saved! Fairfield school district gets enough donations to make class trip
FAIRFIELD, Ohio (WKRC) - Another school affected by a tour company's bankruptcy will get to go on their field trip after all.
7th graders in the Fairfield district are headed to Chicago at the end of the month.
This comes after one of the trips in jeopardy after Discovery Tours collapsed a couple weeks ago. Now, they'll be going at no extra cost.
A national group that promotes student travel received tens of thousands of dollars in donations from around the country to help schools that were affected.
Fairfield is getting some of that money.
The Ohio Attorney General's Office has filed a consumer protection lawsuit in Cleveland against a northeast Ohio company that failed to deliver on pre-paid field trips for more than a dozen schools and thousands of students from across the state.
The Attorney General's Office said that Discovery Tours in Mayfield "must be held accountable" for betraying the trust of families and schools.
