Colerain Township man arrested for 5th OVI, had children in the car
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A Colerain Township man was arrested on OVI charges with two children in the car. The judge said this was Derrick Duckworth's fifth OVI arrest.
Duckworth was pulled over on April 24 before 5 a.m. on Montgomery Road. He refused tests to determine his BAC and he was driving on a suspended license. Two children, ages eight and four, were in the car at the time.
Both Duckworth's mother and a woman who was with him in the car with him spoke in court. Both denied he had been drinking. His mother claimed Norwood Police were harassing him. The children's mother said, "I am a mother, I have two kids, they're all I have. I would not endanger my children by putting them in a car with someone that had been drinking."
Police said Duckworth had admitted to drinking, smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech.
The judge said Duckworth's most recent OVI arrest was just two months ago and he'd only been released a few days before Tuesday's arrest.
The judge ordered him held on $2,500 bond.
