Construction on Marburg Bridge begins, causing traffic headaches
HYDE PARK, Ohio (WKRC) - A bridge that serves as a major connector to the Oakley and Hyde Park neighborhoods will close Monday morning so it can be replaced.
The Marburg Bridge will be closed for six months, causing traffic headaches for drivers in the area.
The Marburg Bridge gets a lot of daily use--the Cincinnati Transportation and Engineering Department estimates 14,000 vehicles drive it a day.
For the next six months, those drivers will have to find another way around while the bridge gets a face lift. Engineers say it's crumbling and is in poor condition.
The city grades bridges on a scale of zero to nine, zero being a failing grade. The Marburg Bridge has a four rating.
The main detour is Wasson Road over to Paxton Avenue, Paxton down to Erie Avenue and then Erie all the way back to Marburg Avenue.
There has been a lot of controversy surrounding this project, so engineers say they'll stay in touch to make it as painless as possible.
