2 dead, 3 injured in Brown County crash
MT. ORAB, Ohio (WKRC) - Police responded to the scene of a crash on State Route 32 at Brook-Malott Road on Friday evening.
Two people are dead and three others were injured in the crash, according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Brown County dispatch said that the call came in around 5 p.m. and that two medical helicopters were called to the scene.
A press release from police says that 77-year-old Edward Lane drove his Kia Optima westbound on the eastbound lanes of State Route 32 and struck a GMC Sierra that was being driven by 41-year-old Cameron Barkley.
After striking the GMC Sierra, Lane's Kia Optima then struck a Mazda 6, which was being driven by 27-year-old Brody Morris.
Mr. Lane and Mr. Barkley were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Mr. Morris was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
43-year-old Derek Jimison was in the front passenger seat of the GMC Sierra and was flown by AirCare to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.
28-year-old Stefan Slack was in the front passenger seat of the Mazda 6 and was taken to the Mount Orab Mercy Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
Preliminary investigation says that all drivers and occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash according to the press release from police.
The crash remains under investigation.
