Gag order issued in the Ray Tensing case

Judge Leslie Ghiz issues a gag order for the Ray Tensing retrial (WKRC file)

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Judge Leslie Ghiz has issued a gag order in the Ray Tensing case.

The order prevents the attorneys and the parties involved from talking to the media until there is a verdict. The retrial date for Tensing is May 25, 2017.

The original trial received a lot of media coverage in the Tri-State and even nationally. Judge Ghiz writes that the order "is intended to prevent media coverage of statements that might unfairly influence the potential jury pool and the outcome of the case".

The jury in the original trial of the former U.C. officer charged with murder and involuntary manslaughter for the shooting death of Sam DuBose could not reach a verdict and a mistrial was declared.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters asked for a change in venue for the retrial, citing fears that an impartial jury can't be found in Hamilton County. As for now, the trial will be held in Hamilton County.
