KY Governor says new abortion bills go into effect Monday
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) - Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin said all of the bills approved by the state legislature over the weekend of January 6, will be in effect Monday, January 9.
The state legislature passed seven bills during a rare Saturday session, including new abortion laws. One requires ultrasounds before abortions. Another bans abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The only exception is if the mother's life is in danger. There are no exceptions for rape or incest.
An emergency clause was included, which means they can go into effect right away.
Bevin has 10 days to formally sign the bills.
