KYTC: Roebling Suspension Bridge scheduled to reopen in May
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced Monday there's a plan in place to have the Roebling Suspension Bridge reopened by early May.
KYTC said repair work on the bridge is scheduled to begin Wednesday and be finished and open to all traffic by May 1, pending weather.
The bridge was shut down after a bootleg cab struck a steel beam and caused significant damage in March.
Demarko Page is the accused driver of that cab. He's also accused of fleeing the scene and leaving behind an injured passenger. Covington Police issued a warrant for his arrest March 29.
KYTC said because of the historic nature of the bridge, the Kentucky Heritage Council also had to first approve the repair plan. The repair cost is estimated at $62,000.
