Memorial service for former Cincinnati mayor Bobbie Sterne
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Cincinnatians are remembering former mayor, Bobbie Sterne at a memorial service at Memorial Hall Wednesday. City leaders, past and present, came to pay their respects.
Sterne was the city's second female mayor and a longtime council member.
She served two terms as mayor in the 70s then moved to council chambers for years. She served until July of 1998.
She was known to fight for civil rights, gay rights and for the downtrodden. Current Cincinnati mayor John Cranley said of Sterne's death "a true champion of Cincinnati's spirit has been lost. We are blessed to inherit her legacy."
Sterne died last month in California just days before her 98th birthday.
