Middletown man sentenced for murdering his wife while her daughter was at home
BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - A judge sentenced a Middletown man to 15-years-to-life for the murder of his wife at their home in 2017. Bobby Nitz had pleaded guilty to the crime.
Crista Nitz was found bleeding on the bathroom floor by her 11-year-old daughter on April 30. She had been shot in the head.
Nitz's daughter called her father in Mason County, West Virginia and told him she heard her mother and her mother's husband arguing before she heard a loud noise. Through "face time" chat, she told her father how her mother was bleeding on the bathroom floor. The girl's father then called police.
First, her daughter had to go for help but Crista's sister said Nitz had thrown the phone on the roof. Faith Wells called Nitz a "selfish coward". "How can you take a mother in front of her baby girl?"
Nitz was arrested in Meigs County, Ohio where he had family.
Nitz's attorney said his client is remorseful and has taken responsibility.
