Newport Police help terminally ill dog cross off bucket list item

Thanks to the Newport Police Department, Lt. Dan was granted the wish of becoming an honorary K9 officer on Sunday (WKRC)

NEWPORT, Ky. (WKRC) - Lieutenant Dan, a rescue dog from Dayton Paw Patrol, has a terminal disease.

He also has a bucket list of things to do before he dies.

Thanks to the Newport Police Department, Lt. Dan was granted the wish of becoming an honorary K9 officer.

Lt. Dan has a deadly disease that affects his nerve function. He's been given just a short time to live.

His foster mom, Taylor Craig, said he was set to be put down until she became his foster mom through the Paw Patrol program.

"It just means a lot to know that people still do care," Craig said. "That they are able to come together. It's something that seems so small at times, but it means the absolute world to me, Lt. Dan, and Paw Patrol of Dayton."

Lt. Dan has more items to cross off his bucket list, like playing in the mud and swimming in the river.
