One of three suspects in beating, shooting of paraplegic man appears in court

Police say Chere Williams was one of three people involved in the robbery and shooting of a paraplegic man in South Cumminsville (WKRC)

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Chere Williams appeared in court on aggravated robbery charges Tuesday. The mother of three children is the latest person charged in connection with the shooting and robbery of a paraplegic man.

Williams admitted she drove two men to the South Cumminsville apartment on Elmore Avenue. She said she didn't know what they were up to when they went to the fourth-floor apartment of Michael Jones, who uses a wheelchair. He's paralyzed from the waist down.

She said she no clue the paraplegic man was going to be robbed but police said she stayed with the men during the violent robbery then turned getaway driver.

"Eventually yanked out of the wheelchair, threw him on the ground, shot him in buttocks..then she drove him away," said CPD Lt. Don Luck.

Security video outside the apartment shows Williams going in with James Flagg who was arrested and charged in the robbery and in the shooting. Police say Marvin Davis is the other man in the video. Crimestoppers tipsters helped identify the trio. Police say this was all about robbery.

"Three people rob a guy in a wheelchair... what did they hope to get? Shooting? just a way of life for these guys," said Lt. Luck.

Jones didn't want to go on camera. He says lying helplessly on the hallway floor with a gunman over him, has him moving away, and recalculating what's important in life.

Police hope another tip will lead them to Marvin Davis. He's the only one they are still looking for in connection with the robbery and shooting.

There is a reward through Crimestoppers. Anyone with information is asked to call 352-3040.
