Pedestrian struck in Avondale hit-skip dies days later
AVONDALE, Ohio (WKRC) - A man who was struck by a vehicle in an Avondale hit-skip on Friday has died.
55-year-old Timothy Whalen was crossing Hickman Avenue in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a black sedan. The vehicle did not stop after the hit.
Mr. Whalen sustained life-threatening injuries and transported by Cincinnati Fire Department personnel to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He died on Saturday. Police confirmed his death in a release on Tuesday.
Neighbors said Whalen is a nice man who keeps to himself.
"I'm still trying to process that, because you hear about that almost every other day on the news. It hits close to home when it happens to someone you know. I'm kind of choked up about it now," said neighbor Treman Scott.
Police are on the lookout for a dark-colored Dodge Neon with heavy tint that was seen speeding away from the scene. It should have right front damage.
