Prayer vigil to be held for Elder grad injured at party
DELHI TOWSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) - A prayer vigil will be held Wednesday night at a west side grade school for a young man who was seriously injured at a party over the weekend.
This is a very tight-knit community and right now, people at Our Lady of Victory in Delhi are all pulling for one of their own.
Ryan Custer went to school there. Right now, he's in the hospital after he was badly injured when he jumped into a makeshift pool at a party in Oxford Saturday. That pool was made from several bails of hay and a tarp and had less than a foot of water in it.
Custer hit is head on another person and suffered a broken vertebrae. He's still in the ICU.
The Elder grad was a standout athlete and is currently a member of the Wright State University men's basketball team.
On Wednesday evening, friends, family and members of the community will gather at Our Lady of Victory's church for a special prayer service in hopes that Ryan is able to recover.
The prayer service is set to begin at 7 p.m. It is open to the public, so all are welcome to join in the prayers for Ryan.
No arrests were made at Saturday's party, but one citation was issued for crowd size. We're told there were as many as 400 people there.
