Senate committee votes to reinstate exemption for Delta Queen
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Efforts to get the Delta Queen cruising again got a boost Wednesday, June 29, in Washington.
Overnight excursions on wooden vessels are not allowed but the Delta Queen was given an exemption. It expired in 2008 but the U.S. Senate commerce committee agreed to reinstate it.
Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown sponsored the bill that will go to the full Senate for approval. The 89-year-old vessel was expected to move to Kimmswick, Missouri later in 2016. That's just outside St. Louis.
