Two dead as police investigate stabbing in Elsmere

ELSMERE, Ky. (Brad Underwood) -- Elsmere Police responded to a stabbing Thursday evening, August 6, in Kenton County around 7:40 p.m.

It happened at a residence in the 100 block of Seneca Trail.

An Elsmere officer shot and killed a man upon arrival. A woman inside was alive when police arrived, but later died.

No names have been released at this time.

The officer is uninjured.

"It's a traumatic experience obviously on the victims' side, the victims' family and also on the officer," Lt. Rick Saint-Blancard of Kentucky State Police said.

Lt. Saint-Blancard said there were two children at the scene, that were not involved. It is unclear at this time how much of the incident they witnessed.

Kentucky State Police is handling the investigation.

Investigators described the scene as "messy."
